Skinny Sams Gets Tight with Over The Wall Charity

Skinny Sams are proud to announce their alliance with Over The Wall*, a charity providing residential camps for children and young people affected by cancer and other serious illnesses.

Skinny Sams, the Home of Children’s Tights was launched in October 2006.

Skinny Sams have pledged to give a significant percentage of the profits from the website to Over The Wall and hope to support them in other fundraising events in 2007 and beyond. They also plan to manufacture a dedicated Over The Wall tight, perhaps designed by a well known celebrity, from which all profits would go to the charity.

Skinny Sams is the brainchild of mother Alison Baumal who became aware of a gap in the market whilst talking and listening to other mothers. At the same time Alison was aware of how lucky she was to have a healthy child of her own and was keen to form an association with a children’s charity.

Can you Help - We at Skinny Sams would like to ask for your help in raising the awareness of Over The Wall and the fundraising efforts we are undertaking. Last year Over the Wall was able to send 300 children to one of their Camps, held during Easter and the Summer holidays, for free.

* Over the Wall is a charity providing residential activity camps for children affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. Founded in 1999, the camps are modelled on Paul Newman’s renowned Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in the USA.

Children aged from 8 - 16 years, who are affected by potentially life threatening illnesses are referred from hospitals all over the UK to be given a week of magic at an Over The Wall camp. The programme of activities and the company of other children facing similar challenges, gives these children a chance to be just a child, rather than a child that is ill. The effect of camp lasts much longer than the week, as they leave with a renewed self confidence and hope for the future. Over the Wall is unique in the UK, they are the only camp experience that offers a separate week’s holiday for the siblings of the ill child, so they too can have one week of magic. www.otw.org.uk for more information.
